International Cancer Screening Network (ICSN) Conference
Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Building on the success of the widely-praised Eurasian Cancer Screening Congress in 2018, AECA is ensuring the continued engagement of regional cancer screening experts at the 2019 International Cancer Screening Network (ICSN) Conference. Several AECA-facilitated discussions will examine the latest progress on cancer screening research and implementation programs within low- and middle-income countries within the Eurasian region.


June 17-19, 2019
Roundtable on HPV-Associated Cancers, Primary Prevention, and Screening
Moscow, Russia 

AECA will serve as a facilitator to convene international experts in HPV vaccination and pathology to discuss the economic, logistical, and cultural challenges related to HPV-associated cancer prevention, screening, and treatment. Representatives from Russia and Eurasia are particularly invested in the event due to the relatively high incidence rate of cervical cancer in the region. During the meeting, gynecological oncologists from the Russian Federation plan to join the International Gynecologic Cancer Society as a Strategic Alliance Partner.


June 27-28, 2019
Inauguration of the International Palliative Care Center
Moscow, Russia 

The Russian Federation-based center will serve as the regional hub for palliative care research, training, and education. Stakeholders from Central Asia and Eastern Europe, alongside international experts in palliative care, aim to provide improved quality of life to millions of patients throughout the Eurasian region. The Center will also serve as a research and training partner for the global palliative care community.


September 19-21, 2019
International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) Congress
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

AECA facilitated the integration of Russian surgical experts as Master Trainers to showcase innovative operating techniques via live streaming to the international gynecological oncology community.


July 11-14, 2019
VI Eurasian Head and Neck Cancer Forum
Moscow, Russia


Beginning in 2019, AECA initiated a new effort in professional training, focused specifically on head and neck cancers. Jointly with the Eurasian Society of Head and Neck Oncology, AECA facilitated the participation of Dr. John Ridge of Fox Chase Cancer Center at the conference to encourage international collaboration on the topic.


September 27-October 1, 2019
European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress
Barcelona, Spain

AECA will join the 2019 ESMO Congress to facilitate the review of the Eurasian Cancer Control Plan. The discussion of cancer control practices amongst practitioners from Russia, Uzbekistan, and Latvia aims to reduce the burden of cancer in the region and to encourage the adoption of best practices to optimize resources in limited resource settings.

By fostering ongoing scientific exchange, AECA encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing between international onco-urological stakeholders. Cancer research and publication networks have been developed to address relevant opportunities and challenges.
